E6000 Advanced Troubleshooting Suite

More Advanced Training, More Hands-on, and Now More Flexibility

Commscope Training has released a newly updated and flexible format for the E6000 CER Advanced Troubleshooting Training Suite. This unique blend of eLearning and hands-on training maximizes your time and gives you the expertise to solve real world issues on the E6000 CER. Plus, by offering flexible course pairings, you get targeted learning in less time!

The Suite offers five course pairs. Each pair contains an online course and an instructor-led session. The instructor-led sessions are half-day hands-on troubleshooting in our training labs, dealing with solving real-world scenarios. Now featuring DOCSIS 3.1 updates as well!

Learning Paths

There are two different learning paths available to you: both eLearning and Lab or just eLearning.

Both eLearning and Lab

After attending the Advanced Troubleshooting Essentials courses, both the eLearning (E6D300E) and Lab (E6D300L) you can then take any (or all) of the other modules.

You must take a module’s eLearning before taking its accompanying lab.

Just eLearnings

Once you have taken the Advanced Troubleshooting Essentials eLearning you can then take any (or all) of the other eLearning courses.

Course Descriptions

E6D300E: E6000 CER Advanced Troubleshooting Essentials eLearning
TRN-E6D300E-005 $250

This eLearning course presents troubleshooting techniques for the E6000 CER. It covers standard commands to use, a method for approaching troubleshooting for the E6000 CER, and troubleshooting tools and resources available. This eLearning also includes a review of the main principles of DOCSIS 3.1.

E6D300L: E6000 CER Advanced Troubleshooting Essentials Lab
TRN-E6D300L-001 $500

This hands-on lab is instructor-led – in person or virtually. It covers troubleshooting techniques for the E6000 CER, and standard commands for basic troubleshooting information including DOCSIS 3.1. Labs include identifying your current environment and dealing with service node splits.

E6D301E: E6000 CER Cable Modem Registration eLearning
TRN-E6D301E-005 $250

This eLearning course presents the processes that are performed during cable modem registration, functional differences with DOCSIS versions 1.x, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1 cable modems, and how to pinpoint potential issues in ranging, registration and cable modem resets. The course also contains a brief overview of the differences with DOCSIS 3.1.

E6D301L: E6000 CER Cable Modem Registration Lab
TRN-E6D301L-001 $500

This hands-on lab is instructor-led – in person or virtually. It covers the cable modem registration process, how to locate registration problems with commands and trace logging, and labs that cover problems that modems can have during each phase of the registration process.

E6D302E: E6000 CER Theft of Service Prevention eLearning
TRN-E6D302E-005 $250

This eLearning course presents common ways theft of service can occur in a CATV network such as modem cloning or reuse of a valid modem configuration file. The course examines how E6000 CER features can be configured to prevent these and other types of service threats in the cable network. This course is based exclusively on DOCSIS issues.

E6D302L: E6000 CER Theft of Service Prevention Lab
TRN-E6D302L-001 $500

This hands-on lab is presented either virtually or in person. It covers common ways theft of service can occur. Hands-on labs include verifying cable modem service rates, checking for theft of service attacks, placing modems on the rogue modem list, creating cable filters, using trace sniff to check for attacks, and setting additional security features such as TFTP-enforce and Dynamic Shared Secret.

E6D303E: E6000 CER RF Impairments eLearning
TRN-E6D303E-005 $250

This eLearning course presents typical RF impairments that are experienced in a CATV network including noise, distortion and power issues. The course examines these impairments and how they are reported and measured in the E6000 CER and presents mitigation considerations. This course is based exclusively on DOCSIS issues, including DOCSIS 3.1 principles.

E6D303L: E6000 CER RF Impairments Lab
TRN-E6D303L-001 $500

This hands-on lab can be delivered either in person or virtually. It covers such RF impairments as noise, distortion, and power issues. Labs include checking for noise and power levels, tracing ranging and bonding issues, using upstream and downstream spectrum analyzers, and enabling ingress cancelation and pre-equalization.

E6D304E: E6000 CER Troubleshooting Capacity and Bandwidth eLearning
TRN-E6D304E-005 $250

This eLearning presents types of capacity and bandwidth issues experienced in the CATV network. The course examines commands and tools available that can identify and resolve problems such as impaired upstream and downstream traffic issues. This course is based exclusively on DOCSIS issues, including DOCSIS 3.1 principles.

E6D304L: E6000 CER Troubleshooting Capacity and Bandwidth Lab
TRN-E6D304L-001 $500

This hands-on lab is presented either virtually or in person. It covers commands and tools that identify possibly impaired upstream and downstream traffic issues. Labs include checking bandwidth utilization and bandwidth usage; looking for bonded impaired modems; and verifying QoS settings.
